Frequently asked questions

Soften Sleep is a wellness iPhone app for quiet 3 AM rescue, not a medical device.

What is Soften Sleep?

Soften Sleep is an iPhone wellness app for occasional 3 AM wake-ups and racing thoughts. It guides you through slow breathing that your phone taps along with, then a cognitive shuffle of calm words, so you can settle and drift back to sleep.

How do I fall back asleep when I wake up at 3 AM?

Lower stimulation instead of adding it. Skip the clock and bright apps, breathe slowly with longer exhales for a few minutes, then picture calm, unrelated things to break the worry loop. Soften runs that sequence for you in one tap.

What is the cognitive shuffle?

A technique from cognitive scientist Luc P. Beaudoin: you picture ordinary, unrelated objects one at a time, a few seconds each, without building a story. Soften shows calm, neutral words so you do not have to think them up yourself.

Will Soften wake my partner?

It is designed not to. Breathing is paced through gentle haptics, so you can keep the sound off and your eyes closed. The screen stays dim and warm, and audio plays only through headphones.

Is Soften free?

Your first full rescue is free. To keep Soften ready every night, you can choose a yearly, monthly or Duo plan in the App Store. Apple shows the price in your currency before you subscribe and handles billing.

Do I need an account, and does Soften track my sleep?

No account is required, and there is no sleep tracking and no sleep score. Open Soften, follow the rescue and put the phone down.

Is Soften a treatment for insomnia?

No. Soften Sleep is a wellness tool for occasional sleeplessness, not a medical device. If you wake up most nights or sleep problems last for weeks, talk to a qualified healthcare provider.

Where can I download Soften Sleep?

Soften Sleep is on the Apple App Store for iPhone, listed as Soften: Sleep & Breathing. It needs iOS 17 or later.
